  1. Software:     VLSI RESPONSE SOFTWARE,  Version 3.1,     August 1, 1993

  3. Description:  VLSI RESPONSE SOFTWARE is a system which provides
  4.               an 'event driven' response to external events.
  5.               For example, the software can be configured by
  6.               the user to cause his/her computer system to
  7.               automatically perform certain functions when a
  8.               security sensor is tripped. This might include
  9.               sending commands to turn switches on, autodialing 
  10.               you at work to send a voice message, etc. It is
  11.               designed to work in conjunction with popular remote
  12.               automation or security systems like the  X-10, AT&T,  
  13.               G.E., Schlage, Sears, Stanley and many other systems.

  15. Requirements: IBM PC or compatible. 
  16.               2 meg memory
  17.               1.5 meg disk
  18.               Windows 3.1 or greater
  19.               DOS 5.0 or greater
  20.               Hayes compatible modem
  21.               Mouse
  22.               VGA 640 X 480 or higher resolution

  29. Suggested Installation Instructions:
  30.  
  31.     1) Make a new directory on the C drive:
  32.            C:>mkdir response
  33.  
  34.     2) Copy the software from the installation floppy's to new directory.
  35.        For example, assuming that a Response Software installation 
  36.        disk is in drive B: 
  37.            C:>copy B:\*.*  C:\response
  38.        Repeat the procedure for the second installation disk.
  39.        Or if you have the XTZ.ZIP version, use PKZIP version 2 to
  40.        unzip the software to the C:\response directory.
  41.        NOTE: You will also need to obtain a copy of the VBRUN300.DLL
  42.              file, available from Compuserve, Microsoft, or VLSI. It
  43.              is a commonly used language interpreter, not duplicated
  44.              for distribution with this package.

  46.     3) Go into Windows Program Manager and add a program item
  47.        for the Response System program, under Startup Group as follows:
  48.           a) Under Program Manager, click the Startup Group.
  49.           b) Under the File menu, click New.
  50.           c) Under New Program Object, click Program Item, click OK. 
  51.           d) Under Program Item Properties:
  52.                Description:       Enter Response System
  53.                Command Line:      Enter C:\response\xtn.exe
  54.                Working Directory: Enter C:\response
  55.           e) Click the Change Icon button.
  56.           f) Under Change Icon:
  57.                File Name:         Enter C:\response\earth.ico, click OK
  58.           g) Click OK, the program item will appear with an earth icon
  59.              under the program group you selected.

  61.      4) From now on, you may run the program from within Windows,
  62.         just by double clicking the Response System earth icon.
  63.         If you want to stop running the program automatically each
  64.         time Windows begins, just move (drag with mouse) the earth 
  65.         icon from the Startup Group to any other Group of your choice.

  68.         on-line help system within the application.
